Sergei Polunin

The controversial SERGEI POLUNIN, who gained worldwide fame after his performance in the Hoziers music video “Take me to Church” directed by David LaChapelle, arrives at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan on December 10th – the only Italian date – with the new SACRÉ project.

Sacré, created by Polunin with the Japanese dancer and choreographer Yuka Oishi, reinterprets the legendary dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. The show brings to light the inspirations and music of the glorious period of the Ballets Russes. In the second part of the evening resounds “The Spring Festival” by Igor Stravinsky at the center of the solo drama by Sergei Polunin, in which he explores the folly of Nijinsky and his search for a “feeling, not a human thought”. Yuka Oishi said: “Nijinsky was a legendary dancer and choreographer. When I heard Igor Stravinsky’s spring festival, the idea took shape perfectly. What I want to address is humanity, not madness. I wanted to focus on light and shadow, facts and emotions, all that we carry within us “.
